Harris Tweed has to be manufactured in accordance with the Harris Tweed Act. The fabric is always made from 100% wool and has to be handwoven by approved weavers in the Western Isles of Scotland. The designs are traditional, ‘new’ designs are more or less a variation on previous designs and patterns are dictated by what can be done on a Harris Tweed loom.
